Jenny Walsh
Jenny Walsh is a furniture designer based in Dublin. She graduated with a first class honours degree from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2009. Her college projects proved to be remarkably successful, receiving international press coverage and being shortlisted for several design awards. The positive response they received prompted Jenny to consider opening her own business and putting them into production.
Wanting to learn more about the inner workings of the furniture industry, Jenny completed 8 months work experience in a furniture fit-out company before finally launching her own range in 2010.
She believes that the success of her products is down to the connection people feel with them. Her designs are mostly based on zooamorphic and anthromorphic forms which encourages people to view them as objects with a sense of humour and a personality.
Jenny has been teaching on the interior design course in Colaiste Dhulaigh since graduating from there with a Higher National Diploma in Interior Design in 2007.
She is currently working with Duff-Tisdall to launch The Malthouse Design Centre, a venue which will showcase and sell a range of Irish designed and Irish made work from a selection of talented local designers. She is also working on several furniture projects both for commercial manufacturers as well as bespoke pieces for private clients. She hopes to launch a new range under her own brand on March 19th in the Royal Hibernian Academy.
